Mobile Phone Photography

Despite my general affinity for technology and gadgets, I was a late adopter of the smartphone. To me they’re too small to do any serious tasks, and I find typing on a screen to be a frustratingly imprecise and disconnected user experience. I’ve been (slowly) warming up to mobile phone photography as the hardware and software capabilities have increased. I still don’t believe that phones will ever replace dedicated cameras with large sensors and lenses with multiple aspherical glass elements, but for snapshots and well-lit scenes phone cameras can produce decent results. I’m currently shooting with a Samsung Galaxy S21.

Although I don’t think Instagram is a great platform for photographers, you can still find some of my work there @jamesrodkey.
